Avocado Nutrition Facts
Avocado has a very different nutrition profile from most fruits. Instead of getting most of its calories from carbohydrates and natural sugars, avocado gets much of its energy from fat and also provides a notable amount of fiber.
A 100g serving of avocado contains about 160 calories , 14.7g of fat, 8.5g of carbohydrates, 6.7g of fiber, and 2g of protein.

These values use 100 grams of edible avocado as a standard reference, making it easier to compare avocado with other foods in the NutritionSolver database.
Why Is Avocado High in Fat?
Avocado is unusual among fruits because fat makes up a significant part of its calorie content.
Most of that fat is unsaturated, with monounsaturated fat making up a large share. This is also why avocado contains substantially more calories per 100g than fruits such as apples or bananas.
Its higher fat content does not make avocado inherently “good” or “bad.” It simply means portion size has a larger effect on total calorie intake than it does with many lower-calorie fruits.
How Many Carbs Are in Avocado?
There are approximately 8.5g of total carbohydrates in 100g of avocado .
However, 6.7g of those carbohydrates come from dietary fiber, while total sugars account for only about 0.7g.
This combination gives avocado a very different carbohydrate profile from sweeter fruits, where a larger share of total carbohydrates usually comes from naturally occurring sugars.
Avocado Is a Good Source of Fiber
With about 6.7g of dietary fiber per 100g , avocado provides considerably more fiber than many commonly eaten fruits.
Fiber is part of the total carbohydrate value shown on the nutrition panel, so it is useful to look at both total carbohydrates and fiber rather than focusing on carbohydrates alone.
Potassium in Avocado
Avocado provides approximately 485mg of potassium per 100g .
Potassium is an essential mineral involved in normal nerve signaling, muscle function, and fluid balance. Avocado also contributes smaller amounts of vitamin C, calcium, and other micronutrients.
What About a Whole Avocado?
The figures on this page are based on 100g , not one whole avocado.
Avocados vary considerably in size, so the calories and nutrients in an entire fruit depend on how much edible flesh it contains. If you eat more than 100g, your calorie, fat, fiber, and other nutrient intake will increase proportionally.
Using a 100g reference avoids assuming that every avocado is the same size.
